BEA Festival chair replacement needed

BEA News Division members,

I hope you are all settling nicely into the new school year in your various capacities. I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the deadline coming up for paper and panel submissions – September 15. We want BEA2012 to be the best ever and are counting on lots of quality submissions to accomplish that. I know I have spoken to many of you about panel proposals and I am looking forward to seeing them all.

The main purpose of this email, however, is to seek volunteers to occupy the position of Student Television News Features Chair for the Festival of Media Arts. Peter Casella has occupied this position, but has had some health issues set him back in his schedule. He has asked that we find a replacement for his position. He has assured us that he is willing to help the new chair get off the ground and hold their hand as much as they wish through the process. BEA and News Division leadership will help as well. Peter has served so well in this position and is such a valued member. It will be hard to replace him.

If you are willing to occupy this position, please let me know as soon as possible. We need to fill this position well before the date submissions start coming in (the window for submissions opens on November 15). Now is the time to step up and volunteer to help our division in this time of need.

Hello Interest Division Leadership,

I hope you had an enjoyable holiday weekend and that your semesters are off to a smooth and productive start. I just wanted to remind you about a few items as we focus on the 2011-2012 academic year.

1. Please take note of my new contact information below. If you have any BEA issues that need my attention, please feel free to contact me.

2. I know Heather, JD, Traci, and Dale have been keeping you updated on the upcoming convention deadlines. Please keep up your efforts to encourage your division members to submit their papers and panel proposals by the September 15th deadline.

3. I’ll be contacting division chairs and website/newsletter editors in the next couple of weeks to discuss ideas and best practices for intra-division communication.
